Regardless whatever Best Practice in the world any programmer might consider is good for your next apps something what really matters to the clients is that: 1) You finish the work on time, and 2) The code is bug free.
Also If you think it’s cool to give something extra, draggable content, Ajax search-suggest and etc, only do it with a price and only if you can do the essential requirement on time. Remember, client won’t remember what you did right but once you did something wrong (regardless how small it is) they will hunt you down at any possible change they have.
